Our 8‑week Dental Assisting Program provides thorough instruction and real hands‑on experience so students feel confident stepping into a dental office. Each week blends focused lessons with practical skills training. Week 1 – Dental Basics & Infection Control Introduction to dental careers, OSHA/HIPAA, sterilization, instrument processing, PPE, and operatory setup. Hands‑on: full sterilization cycle and room prep. Week 2 – Dental Anatomy & Charting Tooth anatomy, numbering systems, dental terminology, oral pathology, and charting. Hands‑on: identifying teeth/surfaces and charting practice. Week 3 – Chairside Assisting Four‑handed dentistry, instrument transfer, suctioning, isolation, and procedure setup. Hands‑on: assisting in simulated procedures. Week 4 – Radiology Radiation safety, digital X‑rays, bitewings, PAs, pano basics, positioning, and angulation. Hands‑on: taking X‑rays on training mannequins. Week 5 – Restorative Procedures Composite/amalgam setups, matrix systems, bonding, curing lights, and materials handling. Hands‑on: tray setup and mock restorative assisting. Week 6 – Impressions & Lab Skills Alginate impressions, bite registrations, model pouring/trimming, whitening trays. Hands‑on: taking impressions and creating models. Week 7 – Dental Specialties Ortho, endo, perio, oral surgery, and pediatrics. Hands‑on: specialty setups, surgical suctioning, and ortho instrument practice. Week 8 – Career Prep & Final Skills Resume building, interview prep, externship expectations, professionalism, and final skills check‑off. Hands‑on: mock interviews and clinical demonstrations.
